The ICP1048 from Microchip is a GaN Power Amplifier that operates from 7.9 to 11 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 48.5 dBm (70 W) and a small signal gain of 24 dB with a power added efficiency of 35%. This three-stage power amplifier is fabricated using GaN on SiC technology and has a return loss of 10 dB (input) & 6 dB (output). It requires a DC supply of 28 V and consumes less than 400 mA of current. This amplifier is available as a die that measures 4.7 x 4.55 mm and is ideal for communication infrastructure and aerospace & defense applications.
