The QPB3238J from Qorvo is a GaN Driver Amplifier that operates from 32 to 38 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 42 dBm (15 W) with a power gain of 37.5 dB and a Power-Added Efficiency (PAE) of up to 14% in CW mode. While operating in pulsed mode, it provides a saturated output power of 43 dBm, a gain of 38 dB, and a PAE of up to 15%. This driver amplifier has an input return loss of 10 dB and a rise/fall time of less than 30 ns. It requires a DC supply of 24 V and consumes less than 7 A of current.
The QPB3238J integrates a DC enable function that allows pulsing or modulation of the RF output. In disable mode, the amplifier’s current is reduced to nearly 0 A, minimizing noise and power dissipation. It is available as a module that measures 119.38 × 101.6 × 35.56 mm and has WR28 waveguide interfaces. It is ideal for TWTA replacement, radar, electronic warfare, and military communication applications.
