The ISSN-05 from ELVA-1 is a Solid-State CW Noise Source that operates from 140 to 220 GHz. This noise source uses a Silicon IMPATT diode to provide a high level of noise power spectral density and good flatness across its frequency band. It is ideal for providing accurate calibration of radiometers and other microwave receivers for various scientific applications, including spectroscopy and radio astronomy.

The ISSN-05 has an ENR of 50 dB and a stability of 0.025 dB/°C. It has TTL-based control capability, allowing TTL impulses to automatically switch the noise power ON/OFF and modulate the output signal. This noise source requires an AC supply of 100 to 240 V. It is available in a module and has an SMA (female) connector for the trigger port, a BNC (female) connector for the biasing port, and a WR05 waveguide interface (with UG-387/UM flange).
