The NBS-26 from Maury Microwave is a Cryogenic Noise Standard that operates from 18 to 26.5 GHz. It is designed for accurate noise calibration, low noise figure measurements, radiometer testing, and LNA characterization. This noise standard is based on fundamental thermal noise and blackbody radiation principles and functions as an inherently broadband primary noise standard, eliminating the need for annual single-frequency calibrations. It utilizes liquid nitrogen boil-off paths to purge air, moisture, and carbon dioxide from the microwave cavity, removing the need for complex and costly helium equipment. This noise calibration device provides a noise temperature of 75.97 K.
The NBS-26 is available with integrated instrumentation, including a precision barometer, thermometer, and low-loss switch, along with an optional ambient-temperature termination to enhance measurement accuracy. It is available in a module and has a WR42 waveguide interface.
