The RW612 from NXP Semiconductor is a Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) 5.3 + 802.15.4 Tri-Radio Wireless MCU that operates in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. It has a 1x1 dual-band (2.4 GHz/5 GHz) 20 MHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) subsystem that provides a Tx power of +21 dBm. This controller includes a Bluetooth LE radio that delivers data rates of up to 2 Mbit/s with support for long-range and extended advertising as well as LE Audio via I2S and PCM interfaces for improved audio experience. The on-chip 802.15.4 radio supports the latest Thread mesh networking protocol. This MCU supports Matter over Wi-Fi or Matter over Thread offering a common, interoperable application layer across ecosystems and products.

The RW612 has a 260 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core with Trustzone-M, 1.2 MB on-chip SRAM, and a high-bandwidth Quad SPI interface with an on-the-fly decryption engine for securely accessing off-chip XIP flash. It incorporates EdgeLock security technology that offers secure boot, secure debug, secure firmware updates, and secure life cycle management as well as hardware cryptography and physically unclonable function (PUF) for secure key management. The module requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and has independent power modes across applications and radio subsystems. It features integrated buck regulators and LDOs supplying internal power domains and supports individual subsystem wake-up through dedicated GPIO, IRQ, and RTC.

This MCU is ideal for building security, lighting, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, blood pressure monitors, fitness equipment, glucometer, home security and surveillance, in-home energy display, major home appliances, multi-radio hub/smart device gateway for internet connectivity, small and medium appliances, smart power socket and light switch and weighing scale applications.
