The R&S CMW500 from Rohde & Schwarz is a Compact Radio Communication Tester for the frequency range from 70 MHz to 3.3 GHz (optional up to 6 GHz). It is a fast and precise solution for production testing of current and future wireless devices such as mobile phones and tablets. The base model of this tester comes with a general-purpose RF power meter and CW generator with list modes for fast calibration of wireless devices. It has a scalable design and is also available with other optional components which include:

  • Vector signal analyzer (VSA) for transmitter verification with MELM (Multi Evaluation List Mode) for fast verification of wireless devices
  • Vector signal generator (VSG) for expanded receiver testing: ARB mode for short setup times for complex signals
  • Signaling (network emulation) for functional sample testing

The R&S CMW500 has a dual port frontend for minimized handling time with one DUT that can be measured while the second DUT will be loaded to the test fixture. It enables easy connection to multiple radios on one wireless device by using the integrated multiport RF interface. This tester supports reference RF power measurement which is enabled by a direct connection of the R&S®NRP-Z power sensor series. It comes with a state-of-the-art graphical user interface (GUI) and supports SCPI remote control via LAN/GPIB interface.

This radio communication tester can be used for a wide range of cellular (LTE, LTE-A, WDCMA, TD-SCDMA, etc.), non-cellular (WLAN, Bluetooth, ZigBee, etc.) wireless technologies and broadcast (GNSS, DVB-T, etc.) technologies. It is available in a 19-inch enclosure with a 21 cm (800 x 600 pixels) TFT color display.
