Rigol Introduces Wideband Benchtop Vector Network Analyzer from 5 kHz to 26.5 GHz

Rigol has released the DNA6000 series vector network analyzer, a benchtop instrument designed for radio-frequency and microwave measurements in laboratory and production environments. The series is built for long-duration, repetitive testing, with an emphasis on measurement stability, compact hardware, and broad connectivity.

The DNA6000 is available in configurations with two or four test ports. It operates from 5 kHz to 26.5 GHz, enabling characterization of a wide range of components, including filters, amplifiers, and cables. The analyser uses 3.5 mm male connectors and provides a maximum output power of 10 dBm. Frequency resolution is specified at 1 Hz.

Measurement performance is defined by a typical dynamic range of 127 dB and trace noise of 0.003 dB. The instrument supports intermediate frequency (IF) bandwidths from 1 Hz to 10 MHz, enabling users to balance measurement speed and noise performance for the test scenario. These specifications enable detailed analysis of amplitude, phase, and group-delay characteristics in microwave networks.

Calibration is a central feature of the DNA6000 series. The instrument supports mechanical calibration kits and electronic calibration (ECal) kits, with multiple calibration methods available. These include SOLT, response short, response open, OSL, enhanced response, response through, frequency response, single-port calibration, response isolation, enhanced response calibration, full dual-port calibration, and electronic calibration. These options allow users to match calibration approaches to different test setups and accuracy requirements.

The analyzer integrates a broad set of measurement and analysis functions. Built-in capabilities include S-parameter measurement, impedance and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) analysis, time-domain analysis (TDA), fixture embedding and de-embedding, and antenna testing. Display formats supported by the instrument include logarithmic magnitude, linear magnitude, SWR, phase, group delay, Smith chart, and polar chart views.

User interaction is handled through a 10.1-inch high-definition touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels. Physical keys are also provided, and the instrument supports the connection of an external keyboard and mouse for parameter input. This analyser comes in an enclosure that measures 358.1 × 214.8 × 300, reflecting a focus on reduced bench space requirements.

Connectivity options are designed to support both manual operation and automated test systems. The DNA6000 includes LAN, USB device, USB host, HDMI, GPIB, and application I/O interfaces. It supports standard SCPI instruction sets, enabling integration into existing automated test environments, and offers web-based remote control for operation over a network connection.

The measurement performance is defined under controlled conditions that include operation within the calibration period, storage between 0 °C and 40 °C for at least two hours, and a 60-minute warm-up period. Specification categories distinguish between typical, nominal, measured, and guaranteed performance, with only the latter representing warranted limits at room temperature.

The DNA6000 series is positioned for use in electronics, communications, and microwave applications, including research and development activities as well as batch production testing in industrial and academic settings.
