The TMC217 from mmTron is a Linear Power Amplifier (PA) that operates from 27 to 31 GHz. It offers backward compatibility and performance similar to the TMC215 amplifier, but is designed to support both commercial and military Ka band operations. This power amplifier delivers a saturated output power of 46.5 dBm (~44.7 W) with a small-signal gain of 23 dB and a power-added efficiency (PAE) of 24%. It also exhibits high linearity beyond 23 W with a spectral regrowth of 32 dBc.
The TMC217 linear power amplifier is internally matched to 50 Ohms, and all ports are equipped with DC blocking and ESD protection, ensuring high reliability. It requires a 28 V DC supply and draws less than 4 A of current. This PA is available as a bare die measuring 4.9 x 4.0 x 0.1 mm and supports Au-based bond pads and backside, wedge bonding, and high-conductivity epoxy & eutectic die-attach methods. It is ideal for SSPA, SATCOM, military radar, and EW applications.
