The RFoF-18GHz-N0-Ultra from RFOptic is an RF-over-Fiber (RFoF) Module that operates from 0.1 to 18 GHz. This module is available in two variants - a Tx unit, which is an optical transmitter that modulates wideband RF signals on an optical beam transmitted on an optical fiber, and the Rx unit, which converts the modulated optical signal back to an RF signal. The Tx unit has a laser diode with an optical wavelength of 1.55 μm and the Rx unit has a receiver photodiode with an optical wavelength of 1.5-1.58 μm. This RFoF module delivers an RF gain of -26 dB and has a noise figure of 41 dB with a P1dB of 23 dBm. It has an SFDR of 111 dB/Hz and a spurious signal of less than 80 dBm with a noise floor level of less than -90 dBm. This fiber module can handle an RF input of up to 25 dBm and has a VSWR of 2.0:1 (input/output).
The RFoF-18GHz-N0-Ultra requires a DC supply of 5-12 V and consumes 1.5 W (Tx) & 0.3 W (Rx) of power. It can be controlled and monitored via a USB-C interface. This module is available in an enclosure that measures 70 x 70 x 22 mm and has an SMA connector for RF input/output & an FC/APC optical connector. It is ideal for target simulators, optical delay lines, satcom, radio telescopes, and satellite communications applications.
