
JFW Industries, a recognized leader in the design and manufacturing of passive RF components and application-specific test systems, has expanded its product portfolio with the addition of two new electro-mechanical RF switch models. The new 1P2T RF switches operate from DC to 8.5 GHz, covering the full range of current commercial cellular and Wi-Fi frequency bands. These switches are available in two variants—a reflective model (50S-4072+xx SMA) and an absorptive model (50S-4074+xx SMA)—both designed with a 50 Ohm impedance and SMA female connectors for seamless integration into a wide range of test setups. Control is managed via a single control line, accommodating +12 Vdc, +24 Vdc, or +28 Vdc inputs, with optional packaging in benchtop or rackmount enclosures for Ethernet-controlled automated testing.
The Model 50S-4072+xx SMA is a failsafe SPDT reflective electro-mechanical RF switch, where the unused port is reflective, making it well-suited for applications where maintaining signal reflection is required. It offers excellent electrical performance, with a VSWR of 1.2:1 maximum from DC to 6 GHz and 1.3:1 maximum from 6 GHz to 8.5 GHz. Insertion loss is kept minimal at 0.20 dB maximum (DC–6 GHz) and 0.25 dB maximum (6–8.5 GHz), while isolation reaches at least 70 dB, with typical values exceeding 90 dB. The switch achieves a switching speed of 15 milliseconds and operates reliably in temperatures ranging from -25 °C to +65 °C.
The Model 50S-4074+xx SMA is a 50 50-ohm electro-mechanical 1P2T switch that shares the same robust specifications but features an absorptive, self-terminating design for the unused port (the unused port will self-terminate at 50-ohm impedance), ensuring unmatched performance in applications where unwanted signal reflections must be eliminated. Like the reflective version, it maintains low insertion loss, high isolation, and excellent VSWR of 1.2:1 maximum from DC to 6 GHz and 1.3:1 maximum from 6 GHz to 8.5 GHz, making it ideal for precision RF testing environments. The failsafe path is COM-to-J2. This 1P2T has three RF ports: COM (common port), J2 (normally closed port), and J1 (normally open port).
Both switches are failsafe, ensuring default operation to a specified port in the absence of control voltage, and are engineered for consistent performance in diverse testing conditions. With these new additions, JFW strengthens its position as a go-to provider for high-reliability RF switching solutions, offering flexibility for both reflective and absorptive configurations in advanced communication and testing applications.
