The FreeMile 60 from FreeMile is a Backhaul Radio that operates from 57 to 61 GHz. It is a solution that is designed to efficiently utilize the 60 GHz spectrum and deliver fiber-like, multi-Gigabit speeds to a significant number of users per area, all at a fraction of the cost associated with fiber-based deployments. This radio unit can operate either as an access point (AP) or station (STA), and in the AP mode, it can support up to 32 stations at a time. This backhaul radio includes an antenna kit that provides a gain of 42 dBi and the unit can communicate over a range of up to 6 km (point-to-point link with 300 mm antenna kit) and 1.6 km (point-to-multipoint link with 100 mm antenna kit). It communicates with users based on TDD duplex mode using the TDMA protocol that employs a dynamic scheduling mechanism. It delivers a data rate of up to 2.3 Gbps (half-duplex mode) over a channel bandwidth of 2.16 GHz (total).
The Freemile 60 supports a wide range of modulation standards from MCS1 to MCS12 for communication. This radio also has AES and GCMP security algorithms built into the unit to ensure secure communication links. It uses HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, SNMP v1/v2/v3, and RESTFUL API for network management and has an Ethernet (LAN) port for in-band management. This radio unit includes a web-based GUI for easy monitoring and configuration of the radio parameters. It requires a DC supply of 38-57 V and consumes 8-41 W of power. This backhaul radio is available in an enclosure that measures 130 x 120 x 55 mm.
