everything RF visited Junkosha’s booth at IMS 2026, where Sales Manager Tomohiro Ogawa presented the company’s latest high-frequency interconnect solutions, including a ruggedized 1.0 mm connector and a new family of 0.5 mm cable assemblies.
The ruggedized 1.0 mm connector is designed to improve connection stability between cable assemblies and frequency extenders. It uses the outer thread of the extender interface, allowing torque up to 10 in-lb, which helps prevent loosening during handling and measurements.
MX-009 and MX-0A5
Ogawa introduced two new 0.5 mm cable options, MX-009 and MX-0A5. The MX-009 (MWX009) and MX-0A5 (MWX0A5) are high-performance microwave/mmWave coaxial cable assemblies designed for advanced test and measurement applications, but they differ in frequency range, loss performance, and interface flexibility. The assemblies offer lower insertion loss and excellent return loss through PTFE dielectric technology, along with a proprietary safety-lock connector for secure, repeatable connections. This makes it well-suited for probe systems, VNA setups, and mixed-interface environments.
The MX-009 supports frequencies from DC up to 190 GHz with a 0.5 mm connector and up to 167 GHz with a 0.8 mm interface. In contrast, the MX-0A5 extends frequency coverage up to 250 GHz, making it suitable for ultra-high-frequency and sub-THz applications. It maintains low insertion loss and strong signal integrity and features a ruggedized 0.5 mm connector that supports higher torque. This improves connection reliability in demanding setups.
Overall, the MX-009 is optimized for lower loss and broader interface compatibility, while the MX-0A5 is designed for maximum frequency performance in purely 0.5 mm high-frequency environments. The company demonstrated a mixed-interface cable configuration with a 0.5 mm connector on one end and a 0.8 mm connector on the other. This setup supports operation up to 167 GHz while enabling compatibility with 0.8 mm interfaces.
