The ST64UWB-A100 from STMicroelectronics is an Automotive-Qualified Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Ranging IC. It is compliant with IEEE 802.15.4ab and 802.15.4z (FiRa) standards, and ideal for precise localization and ranging in automotive, consumer, and industrial applications. This IC requires fewer anchors, thereby reducing design complexity. It is fabricated using 18 nm FDSOI technology, and consists of a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M85 CPU, memories, a UWB/narrowband (NB)-assisted radio, a cryptographic module, power management, and interfaces. This chip uses an NB-assisted multi-ms ranging technique, enabling high-precision, long-range distance measurement and high resolution.
The ST64UWB-A100 utilises modulation schemes such as BPRF and HPRF and supports channel 5/6/8/9/10/12. This UWB IC features advanced security features, such as ARM TrustZone, to ensure secure ranging. It is equipped with multiple interfaces, including SPI, I2C, and GPIO, for communication and control. This AEC-Q100 Grade 2-qualified UWB IC is available in a thermally-enhanced HWQFN40 package with a wettable flank measuring 6.0 x 6.0 x 0.5 mm. It is ideal for car key inside/outside detection, child presence detection, CCC-digital key phase-3, and other secure UWB localization applications.
