The RUBY-W2 Series from u-blox are Automotive-Grade Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.4 Modules. They are designed, built, and tested to meet the high reliability and quality requirements in advanced in-vehicle infotainment and telematics use cases. These modules can operate as an access point, a station, or a combination of both. They support dual-band simultaneous (DBS) and high-band simultaneous (HBS) links in Wi-Fi 7 with a 2x2 MIMO configuration. These dual-radio modules have channel bandwidths of 20 MHz, 40 MHz, 80 MHz, 160 MHz, and 320 MHz and deliver a data rate of 5.8 Gbps in (IEEE 802.11be mode) and 2 Mbps (in BLE). They include Qualcomm’s QCA6797A and QCA6787Q chipsets supporting all PHY layer processing.
The RUBY-W2 Series modules feature high data rates, extended advertising, long range, scan/discovery, and use of isochronous channels for dual-mode Bluetooth 5.4 BR/EDR, along with Wi-Fi 7 operation. They consist of WPA2/3, AES/CCMP, AES/GCMP, authentication, and secure boot to protect the data streams in both radios. These AEC-Q104-qualified wireless modules can work with host processors running on Linux or Android OS connected through various interfaces such as PCIe Gen 3, UART, PCM, and I2S. They require a DC supply of 3.3 V/1.9 V/1.8 V/1.35 V/0.95 V. These RoHS-compliant modules are available in land grid array (LGA) packages that measure 23 x 23 x 3 mm and 23 x 25 x 3 mm.
